The plot is built around provincial detective Alexander Balabin, whom his colleagues nicknamed Balabol for his manner of turning everything into a joke and not losing his sense of humor even in the most threatening situations.

In the new season, the main character will again face a variety of cases and more than once expose himself to mortal danger. Uncle Mitya (Sergei Batalov), a former police lieutenant colonel, will unexpectedly appear in his life, at his suggestion Sanya once joined the service. He indulges in memories and interferes in Balabin’s affairs, only he does it the way he was used to doing it 30 years ago, in the days of his police youth.
