Major Abakulov arrives at an incident: a young girl with signs of beatings and unconsciousness is found in a garbage bin. The victim turns out to be the 19-year-old daughter of an operative: on the way to the hospital, the girl dies in her father's arms. Abakulov is suspended from service, but despite the decision of the leadership, the major begins a secret investigation, during which he finds out that the rapist and murderer of his daughter is an influential person in the city. Abakulov hands over all the evidence he has obtained to the investigation, but in court it turns out that the evidence has disappeared - the culprit manages to avoid punishment and get away with it.
