The action of "The Magic Lamp" begins in St. Petersburg, when ten-year-old schoolboy Sasha, accompanied by a genie and a living speaker, decides to find his missing parents on his own. The group of friends will have to overcome the machinations of the evil sorcerer Yusuf, fight on flying carpets, traverse the desert, and perform numerous heroic deeds.

The film's Uzbek director, Dmitry Vorobyov, emphasized that, despite the script's inclusion of a genie, flying carpets, and other recognizable attributes, "The Magic Lamp" is not an adaptation of well-known fairy tales, but an independent work.
