In the first season, viewers met the main character, Gleb Kaverin. After a mission to Africa, he returns to Nizhny Novgorod, where he unexpectedly begins working as an obstetrician. Despite the dramatic change in specialization, he successfully adapts to his new role, becoming acting head of the obstetrics and gynecology department and preparing for his wedding to his colleague, Lena Elagina, played by Elena Lotova.
Several months after these events, the life of the former military surgeon is complicated by new challenges. His beloved Lena dreams of having a child, and his ex-wife, Marina, played by Victoria Romanenko, is preparing for childbirth, while the identity of her child's father remains a mystery.
Kaverin's professional life is also undergoing changes. Despite his successful work at the clinic, he fails to secure the position of department head—management considers him too principled. Instead, his former lover, Tatyana Zharova, played by Irina Tarannik, is appointed to this position, who intends to bring Gleb back at any cost.
