Leningrad, 1977. A group of daring criminals raids cash collectors near a department store on Petrogradskaya Street. One of the bandits, Nabis (Alexei Kirsanov), disguises himself as a police officer and steals a unique necklace during a fashion magazine shoot. Meanwhile, his accomplices, Plot (Anton Figurovsky) and Vesyoliy (Yevgeny Bulavkin), shoot the collectors with wartime German weapons. Experienced criminal Vakhrushev (Vladimir Steklov) witnesses the crime, and fashion model Polina (Anastasia Dvoryanskaya) becomes an accidental participant in the tragic events. Moscow's major crimes investigator, Pavel Nikandrov (Alexei Koryakov), takes on the investigation of this high-profile case. However, the investigation soon takes on a personal dimension for him: Polina is his wife, with whom he effectively separated after the loss of their child.
Aleksey Koryakov, actor: “I was interested in trying my hand at the role of an investigator in this series. I was captivated by both the era in which the action takes place and the character himself. Acting in historical projects is a special pleasure for me, as I once dreamed of becoming a historian myself. The 1970s were the time of my parents’ youth; people communicated differently then, received and processed information differently. I eagerly studied the script and immersed myself in the atmosphere of the late USSR, watching films about that period. Our series also echoes of the war and post-war times. Beyond the detective element, our story is about the people of that era, their ideals, fears, and doubts.” In Leningrad, Nikandrov's assistants include operative Ilze Krumina (Sonya Ozerova) and investigator Vadim Zharinov (Alexander Pashkov). Together, they begin the hunt for a dangerous group, unaware of the secrets of the past they will uncover. Meanwhile, conflict within the gang escalates: everyone is ready to resort to the most brutal measures to achieve their goals.
Andrey Libenson, director: "I've never before filmed a series about the Soviet era, set in an era I barely remember. I found it very interesting. The main message of the project "Execution" is retribution for evil. The film features three main characters. The first is an investigator working on a complex case involving the shooting of cash collectors during a robbery; he will be the one pursuing the criminals. The second is a former police officer who has turned to crime and is one of the attackers. And the third is a character who practically embodies absolute evil."
The series is being filmed in Moscow and the Moscow region.
