Summer 1945. Ten-year-old Petka's father returns to his native village from the front. However, the boy's joy is overshadowed by the illness of his best friend. To save him, Petka is forced to seek help from a captured Japanese doctor. Together, they must overcome numerous trials and unravel the mystery hidden by the steppe gods.
