Filming began in Moscow in May 2026 for the large-scale historical drama *Chaika* (Seagull), which focuses on the space flight of Valentina Tereshkova, the world's first female cosmonaut. The film is directed by Anton Megerdichev and is scheduled for release on April 8, 2027.

The main message director Anton Megerdichev wants to convey to the audience is that Tereshkova's heroic achievement is not just a flight, but a true triumph of the human spirit. And it was achieved with the help of a large number of unseen heroes, whose stories have never been told before.

"Our film is about how the heroic deeds of many people were embodied in Valentina Tereshkova's world-famous, historic flight on the Vostok 6 spacecraft. We begin with the rocket's launch on June 16, 1963, and experience the entire flight with our protagonist. Our goal is to achieve a truly immersive experience: the viewer should feel as if they were in orbit. For the first time in film, we will reveal the very essence of the events that took place—on Earth and in space—in such detail. And around it, we will build several equally heroic stories—about those who did everything to make this flight happen, about the people who stood behind Valentina Tereshkova, whom she could not let down," said Anton Megerdichev.
